Model Making

Posted on: December 30th, 2007

While working on the Graphic Novel project a few days ago I ran into a hitch - without having access to a mongoose (or cusimanse to be precise!) I was struggling to envision the foreshortening of snout, so I thought I’d make a model of the head.

It’s a pretty basic model, but not bad for a first attempt and it has been really useful so far- I’ll definitely be making more models in future for the other species of mongoose and meerkat that feature in the story.

Illustration Friday: Little Things

Posted on: December 7th, 2007

I have been getting used to illustrating lots of little things just recently, first lightning bugs and now crickets.

This is the latest illustration for a children’s book I am working on based on collective nouns for groups of animals - in this case, a chorus of crickets!

Here is the first glimpse of some work for the new project that I posted about a couple of weeks ago. Can’t say too much about it at the moment, other than that the finished work will be an epic 200+ page graphic novel.

Anyway, here it is…
